Butterfly Effect of Golf on Education

The Dooley Project, Butterfly Effect of Golf was developed by Robert Dooley. Dooley has spent years studying, playing and teaching golf since being introduced to the game 15 years ago. He initiated the very successful urban youth golfing program in Orlando, Florida with the Orlando YMCA in 2010. That program continues to reach young people who were not previously exposed to the sport. Today he is establishing his program Butterfly Effect of Golf at the Hillsborough County Community College and other community based programs.

He is partnering with several groups and non-profits to bring his program directly into the community at after-school programs in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties. These include Tampa Heights Junior Civic Association, the 100 Black Men of Tampa Bay, LIFT Health Organization and the Applied Learning Center in Clearwater. Dooley has received many awards for his work, including his most valued recognition from President Barak Obama in September 2016.

The program was created to apply to all education levels and grades. Since golf incorporates all areas of study for students: science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) each of his modules are age appropriate for children and youth to learn about an industry that is a unique crossroad in its appeal to young people.

The ButterFly Effect of Golf Project with its various levels is an overview of the game and business of golf and is intended to introduce students, starting at age 6 to young adult to its various contexts.
